PAPERS & FRAMES
Papers and frames come in two distinct tiers - Gift and Gallery. Both are excellent value and use high quality materials and processes.
I have been offering Gift portraits for years and as such have a trusted quality of printing, papers and frames from the wonderfully rough textured parchment I use to the handmade solid wood frames shipped in 100% recycled outer packaging. This is an excellent option for Christmas / birthday / 'just because' gifts for yourself or your friends and family.
Gallery portraits represent the finest in quality, from giclee printing using genuine Canon Lucia Pro pigment inks offering archival ratings of up to 200 years to the hand selected range of fine art papers from industry leading suppliers. Gallery prints can be supplied unframed or bespoke framed in a range of popular contemporary wood mouldings with window mount boards and paned with a choice of standard glass or Groglass® Reflection Free Artglass. This is a high end option for beautiful statement pieces.
Each portrait is drawn at extremely high fidelity. I offer proofs upfront before you decide on paper, mount, frame and size options however I may require a deposit of **£39.95 (approx. $49 / €45) before I book your portrait in.
GIFT PAPER
Textured Parchment 180
This is a 180gsm white pulp parchment with a unique hand-pressed 'hammered' finish which gives it a wonderful texture. It lends itself very well to portraits drawn with watercolour brushes, especially lighter portraits as the parchment is slightly absorbent which gives an excellent facsimile of a watercolour painted using traditional media.
GALLERY PAPER
Hahnemühle Photo Rag® 308
Hahnemühle Photo Rag® is probably the most well known heavyweight fine art paper on the market. Photo Rag® 308gsm is a very versatile paper suited to artists, illustrators & photographers. It is a 100% cotton paper with a smooth surface texture with its premium matt inkjet coating, Photo Rag® meets the highest industry standards regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness while preserving the special touch and feel of genuine art paper.
Hahnemühle Torchon 285
Hahnemühle Torchon is a textured fine art paper option. It it a bright white, 100% α-cellulose paper that guarantees archival standards. This watercolour paper has a heavy textured surface and is ideal for art, photography and limited edition prints.
Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl 285
FineArt Pearl – a bright white, 100% a-cellulose paper that guarantees archival standards. Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl has a paper weight of 285gsm and a smooth orange peel surface texture. It has a bright base offering punchy colours and is ideal for both photography and art prints.
Hahnemühle German Etching 310
A traditional mould-made copperplate printing paper, complete with an inkjet coating designed especially for FineArt applications. The white art paper made from 100% alpha cellulose is characterised by its extraordinary velvety tactile feel and its fine, clearly defined felt structure. The unique surface texture adds a very special touch to images, showcasing them in all their splendour with impressive three-dimensional effect and depth. German Etching is an ISO 9706 conforming, museum quality paper for the highest age resistance possible.
Fotospeed Platinum Baryta 300
This photographic paper is fantastic for both colour and B&W work. Platinum Baryta 300 is 100% acid-free Fine Art paper with a smooth unglazed gloss surface. A natural white base and state of the art micro-porous ink receiving layer delivers a high D-MAX (2.7) and wide colour gamut. Platinum Baryta 300 reveals delicate highlights and smooth transitions to shadows for both colour and B&W printing. The paper is approved by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
Canson Aquarelle Rag 310
A genuine 100% Rag paper with a watercolour finish. The watercolour texture gives a unique finish. The paper has a warm white base and the paper complies with the highest archival standards and is extremely age resistant.
GIFT MOUNTS
All portraits are mounted using a front window mount cut from 1400 Micron Thick white core, black core or conservation mountboard. Mount boards are available in the following colours -
Snow White - Smooth board that is the brightest and most popular board, it also combines well with the colour of most of my giclee papers if you are planning on using a print border.
Textured White w/ Black Core - This is a white board with a black inner that leaves a small black edge on the the inner edge of the mount next to the portrait window.
Vanilla - A slightly yellow board that is very effective when used to compliment yellow/orange pet coats.
GALLERY MOUNTS
All gallery portraits are mounted using a front window mount cut from 1400 Micron Thick white core, black core or conservation mountboard. The mount is then finished with a backing piece of mountboard (known as the undermount) that sits behind the window mount, and it is this that the print is mounted to. Mount boards are available in the following colours -
Snow White - Smooth board that is the brightest and most popular board, it also combines well with the colour of most of my giclée papers if you are planning on using a print border.
Textured White - A textured board, not as bright as our Snow White board.
Textured White w/ Black Core - This is a white board with a black inner that leaves a small black edge on the the inner edge of the mount next to the portrait window.
Glacier - A more of a natural white and is our brightest white board for those that are after a conservation level white board.
Hayseed - More of an off white textured board that is often popular with artists.
Pale Ivory - This the perfect board for those looking for an ivory/light cream board.
Black - Can be a wonderful compliment to Black and White portraits.
GIFT FRAMES
Gift frames are 10" x 8" in sustainable solid wood with a glass pane. I offer a small hand selected range in black, grey or natural stain and a premium option made from a harder wood in a dark stain.
GALLERY FRAMES
Gallery framing is outsourced to a professional framer. By having your work professionally framed not only will the standard be much higher than ready made off the shelf frames, but your artwork will also be much better protected. Good quality framing will enhance, compliment and protect the artwork for the future. For many art buyers the frame can be just as important as the image itself.
All prints are mounted using a front window mount cut from 1400 Micron Thick whitecore or conservation mountboard at a width of 1", 2" or 3". The mount is then finished with a backing piece of mountboard (known as the undermount) that sits behind the window mount, and it is this that the print is mounted to. All frames are sealed on the rear and also sealed between the glass and undermount, this stops dust and insects getting the wrong side of the frame.
